Environmental Scientist
Reports to:
Principal Research Executive or Head of the Environmental Department
Primary Objectives:
Research the environmental effects of the company’s activities to develop methods of controlling and minimising factors contributing to environmental damage.
Main Accountabilities:
- Research areas may include atmospheric, water and soil pollution, demographics and public health.
- Develop and test models of the environment using knowledge of ecology, mathematics, statistics and physical science.
- Analyse the sources and effects of pollutants on local population and habitat.
- Recommend cost effective solutions for the rehabilitation of areas disturbed by activities such as mining and waste storage.
- Contribute to the preparation of Environmental impact studies.
Matching Indicators:
Four year degree and may have advanced qualifications plus five years or more experience.
