The survey covers 30+ positions which are unique to the independent schools sector. Positions in the 2019/20 survey will include the Head or Principal, as well as their main direct reports such as Heads of Junior, Middle and Senior Schools; and Deputy Head positions. Academic specialist roles such as Director of Curriculum (Teaching/Learning), Director of Boarding, Director of Pastoral Care were included as well as senior non-academic roles such as Directors of HR, IT and Marketing; and the role of Business Manager/CFO. Examples of middle-level roles would include Heads of Department, Library, Accountants, IT professionals, Payroll Manager, Secretary to the Headmaster and Heads of Grounds and Facilities. Information on remuneration, benefits, cars and working arrangements such as length of leave will also be collected and analysed to ensure valid comparisons can be made.
The survey will be published in September this year after all participating schools and colleges have completed their data submissions for analysis. Last year 174 schools and colleges across Australia contributed to the product and this provided sound sample sizes for each different survey role. The benefits of this unique offering is that it will enable participating schools and colleges to benchmark remuneration for all non-Award roles by just contributing to one product, rather than having to purchase a special independent schools survey as well as a general industry survey. Remuneration often varies by the size of the organisation, as well as the State/Territory where the position is based; and comprehensive tables and charts are also included for each position. There is no doubt that the information in this survey will be instrumental in assisting Independent Schools set and review salaries for senior staff; and will be an invaluable source of information throughout the year.
The Argent Group will be contacting Independent Schools by way of a mailing campaign which will commence in July and we will start gathering remuneration information from participating schools during July and August this year. To participate in this unique survey product you will need to follow a couple of simple steps.
- Continue by adding the product to the shopping cart and proceeding to checkout (once you have added to cart click light blue button with cart icon, top right of screen and click checkout button)
- You will then need to register an account (left hand form) before you finalise payment via PayPal|Credit Card or Bank Transfer*
- Once payment has been received you will be able to access the Data Input Sheet** along with some short position descriptors in the downloads section in “MY ACCOUNT”
- Complete and return the Data Input Sheet with your schools information to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 6th September 2019.
*Please note if you choose the Bank Transfer option the downloads will not be accessible until payment has been received. **Please note that the only way to access the completed Survey Report is to provide the required remuneration information in a timely manner. All information gathered is treated as highly confidential, is coded so that the information remains anonymous and is never revealed to a third party. Please refer to our Privacy Statement for more information. We aim to have the Survey Report available to all our subscribers by mid-September 2019.
